Romantic Cruising in Tahiti

One trip I would definitely love to take is a Tahitian Cruise on the Tahitian Star Clipper. These are not your typical large cruiseship experience. With approximately 170 guests, you would feel very pampered. They also go to ports that larger cruise ships can't go to. They offer a variety of itineraries, including one that offers stops at the Society Islands and the Tuamotu attolls. This one is perfect for the traveler that wants to see a world where time stands still; crystal blue waters, incredible diving and snorkeling, along with a variety of watersports. From a personal perspective, I can imagine visiting different unspoiled islands during the day, having all my meals taken care of (anytime dining), a fabulous spa on board, and new people you would meet during your voyage, many from all over the world. They also offer an incredible value with the meals all being included. Fiji Weddings

If you want to get married in a foreign country, Fiji is a wonderful choice. Marriage are legal, and the ceremonies are very special. You can have anything from a traditional Fijian Choir, to Fijian warriors escorting the bride. There are a variety of locations (the beach is the most popular.) Most of the resorts in Fiji offer special wedding ceremonies. I recently had some clients return from Liku Liku Resort, where they were married. Many of guests participated, and ended up being friends that will probably return with them. For more information on Fiji and other great resorts to get married at such as Yasawa Island Resort , please call me or visit our website at http://www.thebigday.com/.

Royal Plantation Resort

A wonderful resort in the Ocho Rios area of Jamaica is Royal Plantation Resort. It is a very small, intimate resort with fabulous service and dining, and golf nearby. It is a colonial style adult-only resort located approximate 1/2 mile from the main area of Ocho Rios. There are only 75 guest suites with four-poster beds, CD players, and some have spa tubs. This resort can be all-inclusive, or European plan, if you want to get out and explore other restaurants in the area.

Ocho Rios is also a great area for activities outside the resort. I was lucky to experience Rafting on the Rio Grande on a bamboo raft. It is a very quiet serene ride with beautiful natural surroundings. There are a few little stands on the way where you can get a fresh coconut milk drink or even a Red Stripe if you like.

Another great activity is to climb Dunns River Falls. It is a multi-tiered waterfall, and everyone holds hands and climbs it together. You can stop along the way, and your guide will take pictures. Be sure to bring aqua sox or Tiva sandals to wear, since the rocks can be very slippery.

PETER ISLAND RESORT

One of my favorite areas of the Caribbean is the British Virgin Islands. They offer over 50 islands and are a mecca for Sailors, Divers, snorkelers, and watersports enthusiasts. I was fortunate enough to stay at a beautiful resort - Peter Island Resort - for a few days. This

luxury British Virgin Islands Resort is located on a private 1800 sq. foot island, with 5 beautiful beaches, and great cuisine. They also offer day trips to neighboring islands for shopping, sightseeing, and water adventures. All suites have 2 person jetted tubs, and are a perfect location for a Romantic getaway. I would, however, recommend not too many Painkillers (local drink). Also, if you have a chance, try out the Conk in lime butter sauce. Yum!

Anguilla, the Friendly Island

One of my personal favorite islands in the Caribbean is Anguilla. One of the finest luxury Anguilla hotels is Cuisinart Resort and Spa. This is a world class Anguilla resort located on Rendezvous Bay, one of the best beaches in the world. With only 93 rooms all with oceanviews, it is a perfect destination for a honeymoon or wedding. This resort has a hydroponic farm, and some of the finest cuisine in the Caribbean. Be sure to try one of the cooking classes while you are there.

A lot of our clients combine a stay in Anguilla with a stay in a luxury St. Martin Resort such as
La Samanna - St. Martin.

Antiguan Dream Honeymoon

I recently had a honeymoon couple (my clients) return from their honeymoon at Jumby Bay - a private island resort off the island of Antigua. They said it was the most perfect honeymoon they could imagine. If you want your own private island, pristine private beaches, fantastic food and activities, this may be the place for you. It is also located just a short boat ride from Antigua, so if you wanted to go over there for dining, shopping, casino, or just to see the sights, it is very convenient, and you can return to your own little private villa. For more about this resort and others in the Antigua area (more beaches than any other Caribbean Island), please check out TheBigDay honeymoon registry.

Fiji - The World's Friendliest Paradise

I was fortunate to be able to visit the beautiful Fijian Islands a couple of years ago, and got to see many of the different resorts such as Castaway Island Resort, Malolo Resort, and others. I also got to take the three day blue lagoon cruise and they almost had to drag me off the boat at the end. It is a wonderful way to see totally unspoiled islands. The snorkeling is the best I have ever experienced. At night, the crew comes out on the deck and plays guitars and everyone is invited to join in on a sing-along. Every morning, the captain would announce by loudspeaker swim time, and you could go out for a morning swim. The meals were fabulous, and they always had morning and afternoon tea. The first picture you see is the crew of the cruise singing us a traditional Fijian farewell song. The music in Fiji is wonderful!
We enjoyed some of the local songs and dances at Castaway Island Resort as well as the traditional Fijian Kava Ceremony.

Celebrate your Special Anniversary in Paradise

The Big Day has recently added a new feature to their website. For couples that want a special celebration for their wedding anniversary, there are many wonderful places to consider. Check out the anniversary registry at TheBigDay for more information. Whether you choose a tropical cruise to exotic places or a romantic overwater lagoon in Tahiti, it is great way to celebrate your special day. The first picture shows Chickie relaxing in a hammock while on his visit to Tahiti. We had to use bullfrog sunscreen to keep him from getting fried.

Chickie is frightened in the Overwater bungalows

Chickie was fortunate to visit the Tahitian islands with Michael Cottam, one of the co-founders of thebigday.com and one of my co-workers David Seeberger (The Travel Man). Here he is enjoying one of Tahiti's finest - Hanano beer. He was also able to visit several of the resorts including The St. Regis Resort in Bora Bora.

He did get a scare when he was in his first overwater bungalow and he saw an unusual creature swimming by - See photo.

The marine life is truly amazing in Tahiti, but this is one we had never seen before.

Travel Patti and her traveling companion Chickie Enjoy Jamaica

I recently returned from my 25th trip to Jamaica. Obviously, I really like the destination. I have personally stayed at several of the resorts, and I find the Jamaican people to be very warm and friendly. This trip, I stayed at Couples Ocho Rios. One of the things that you need to know about Jamaica, is that everyone is on their own time. They call it "soon come", so don't expect everything to be quick over there. That is one of the charms of the island. It forces you to relax.

I also toured Half Moon Resort, and was very impressed by the elegance it offers. It has a distinctly European feeling to it, with lots of antiques, marble floors, beautiful grounds, and great restaurants. For those people who like fine dining, I highly recommend this resort. It also has a wonderful golf course.

The last part of my trip was spent in one of my very favorite resorts - Sandals Montego Bay. It was a wonderful part of the trip, because I got to witness several weddings at Sandals. Such a beautiful place to get married in with the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea in the background, and a flower decorated gazebo for the ceremony. You can also have an optional steel drum band playing in the background. Very romantic. For more information on different Jamaica resorts, look at thebigday.com. They offer many different options.

My next entry will show pictures of my traveling companion, which I will keep as a surprise until then.
